Hollfelder Group

Post-Doc

Joined the lab: August 2022

Background and Current Project: Following an B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry at the Freie Universität Berlin, I did my PhD in early mouse and human embryogenesis focussing at the time point of implantation during which the embryo forms its first contacts with the maternal endometrium. At that stage, the embryo undergoes a series of remodelling events while transforming from its pre- into its post-implantation configuration. During my PhD in the group of Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz, I carried out numerous projects focussing on different aspects of this transformation process in both mouse and human embryos. For my PostDoc, I would like to examine non-coding RNA dynamics of early mouse embryogenesis using the recently developed VASA-Seq method. In addition, I aim to understand the evolution of the pluripotency gene regulatory network across the phylogenetic tree in amniotes with the aim to eventually lay the basis for the generation of naïve pluripotent stem cells of endangered species.

Interests: When not in the lab, you will find me doing fine art using different techniques - from painting with pure ash to elaborate copper etchings ranging from naturalistic to abstract - or writing poetry or one of my novels. “EWIGKEIT” (eternity), the first exhibition of my paintings, took place 2014-2015 at the publishing company Mittelbayerische Zeitung. Currently, I am working on my second exhibition. My poems have been published in numerous anthologies and I am currently working on the publication on my first novel “Leopold, der Junge am See” (Leopold, the boy at the lake).
