Hollfelder Group

Ph.D. student

Joined the lab:  October 2023 (Ph.D, rotation)

Background and Current Projects:I started my higher education as a Biology student in Charles University, Prague, where my passion for synthetic biology first begun. After a year, I switched to Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at UCL, where I graduated with a bachelor degree in 2023. There, I continued to explore synthetic biology through the lenses of gene expression circuits, working on model organisms such Drosophila melanogaster and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Currently, I am doing a rotation project with the Hollfelder group as part of my PhD studies. More specifically, I am interested in utilising Deep Mutational Scanning to explore the fitness landscapes of new-to-nature phosphatases, while evolving a more proficient enzyme with uses in biotechnology and bioremediation. Secondly, I am interested in simulating natural protein evolution events with the use of microfluidics-enabled directed evolution.

Interests:  I am a passionate book collector – I collect books from all genres, newly released or long out of print. With that also comes my deep interest in literature of all kinds. I am also an avid enjoyer of classical music and a tech enthusiast. You can sometimes find me in the bouldering gym struggling to reach the next hold.
